Tired today… had a way too early morning meeting. I’m in one of those moods where I just want to swap lives with someone else, even if their life is worse than mine, just for the sake of adventure. Not because I don’t like my own life, just because. I was driving home from work today, and intentionally staring at everyone I drove past. Then I would wonder what they were up to, and what their life was like. Have you ever done that? Sometimes its easy to forget that REAL PEOPLE are actually driving all those cars on the road. (Especially when they cut me off and I curse loudly to myself with my fist in the air).
I spent a good amount of time last week basically spewing out a zillion different ideas for Alt Christian bumper stickers and t-shirts. I see mostly lame bumper stickers on the road these days, or hateful ones, and I think it’s time for a new generation of Christian bumper sticker. Note: I don’t actually have any bumper stickers on my car, but I do have to look at everyone else’s.
After I created this list, I had this fantastic idea: I could start a cottage industry
where I hire the guys down at the shelter to make my kick-arse Alt Christian paraphernalia, and pay them an awesome living wage, and keep the rest of the profit. Now that would be fab. Except people would have to want to actually PURCHASE the paraphernalia. Changing the world can be so complicated…
So here’s the list:

wow girl!!! What has caught your heart since moving up to Nashville? I have seen some radical change in such a radical mover and shaker and the prospects are frightening. just the thought is shaking me up inside. you go girl!!!! i am encouraged by you “never giv[ing] up. never surrender[ing].” propell forward and watch others jump into the cause of Christ, as He unfolds His vision to us.
I love so many of these and the whole concept behind using the men at the shelter!
I will be one of your first customers. I especially love the Trusting God, not the government and the What would Jesus eat? and the . . . well, you get the idea!!
I love the What would Jesus eat? too – sign me up for one of those!!
Thanks ladies! It’s amazing what coming up with short little slogans can do to help you feel like you are expressing yourself and getting things out of your system! My hubby is somewhat of a photoshop wiz, so maybe I can commission him for some graphics
Wow, Hilary. I absolutely love those slogans and would totally sport one.
Those are reaaaaally awesome – I saw one here on the campus I work that said: “What would Jesus brew?” – meaning Fair Trade Coffee!!
I’ve also seen- “When Jesus said ‘Love your enemies’, I think he probably meant don’t kill them.”
You’re right, there are some pretty awful, hateful ones out there as well. It’s too bad! You’ll have to take over with your awesome new business idea.
I’m in. Let’s start designing:)
