Two Sides of the Same Story

July 23, 2008

I submit these two short video clips for you to view together, and I would like to invite your observations.

These are two videos from two very committed Christian organizations- one is the trailer for a documentary and one is a promotional piece for an event. They both believe that what they are doing can make a huge change in this nation. They both refer to their movement as being an integral part of the next “Great Awakening” in America. So what does that Great Awakening really look like?

Please let me know what you think– are these two groups striving for completely opposite results? Are their goals the same, and they simply see a different way to achieve them? Does anything in these videos tweak you or frustrate you? Excite you? Call you to action?

I have personally been to a Call event here in Nashville, and I have also attended conferences and other events with many of the “Ordinary Radicals” crowd. I would love your feedback!

You raise a lot of tough, insightful questions.

Personally, I found the OR video unassuming yet inspiring, where as I felt the Call video used fear tactics a bit more. It seemed like there was more yelling in the second video. Which, for me, is a turn off when it comes to evoking hope.

But the fundamental differences in the organizations and the rift among Christians is a subject I could mull over for days. :)

So I’ll stop myself here and say, “What a great, interesting post! Thanks for drawing on these two videos, you rock.” :)
